COSMOVITRAL BOTANICAL GARDEN OF TOLUCA.

Located in Toluca City, an art nouveau style building with modular steel structures, quarry walls and façade and large forged doors.

The Cosmovitral is a work of art composed of 41 stain-glass window panels which represent the story, evolution and itinerary of man in a cosmos cycle. This architectonic jewel is a perfect setting for the botanical garden, which houses over 400 species of plants from different parts of the world in an area of 5 thousand square meters.

 

MALINALCO

“Portraits of Faith” 

In this holy place, the visitor will be able to admire the Sanctuary of the Eagle and Jaguar warriors, within the idol hill, and be transported to pre-Hispanic times. This temple is located in one of the most typical sceneries in the State of Mexico. It is located 104 km Southwest of Mexico City.

Touristic Attractions

Archaeological Site, XVI Century Agustine Ex Convent, Santa Monica Chapel, San Nicolás Tolentino and Jesús María Chapels, Jalmolonga Hacienda, Luis Mario Schneider Museum, Malinalco Golf Club.

 

 

VALLE DE BRAVO

When man and nature make a pact, places like “Valle” come to existence. This Magical Town, mountain paradise with its immense artificial lake, the pleasing warmth of its people, its colonial appeal and its majestic surrounding forest create the alchemy from which its magic emerges. It is located 134 km Southwest of Toluca.

 

IXTAPAN DE LA SAL

 “A corner of paradise”

 An Eden, created by nature in kind and warm lands, surrounded by exuberant nature, relaxing and healing thermal waters that the visitor can enjoy with all the commodities of modern life. Located 135 km Southwest of Mexico City; 68 km South of Toluca.

Touristic Attractions

Thermal healing waters; waterparks; Asunción de María Parrish; Garden of the Martyrs; Calderón Cliffs and Maliltenango.

 

 

ACULCO

“The place where water turns”

Located in the Independence Route, of Arabic and andalus style, this colonial town’s bwauty is framed by its red roof tiles and cobblestone streets. It is one of the most beautiful towns in the State of Mexico. It is located 100 km from Mexico City, via the Mexico-Queretaro highway; from Toluca 106 km via the Toluca-Atlacomulco highway.

Touristic Attractions

San Jeronimo Church and Ex Convent, La Cofradía and Ñadó Haciendas, Tixhiñu and La Concepción waterfalls, public washing place, historic center. Quarry crafts, cheese and dairy.

 

MONARCH BUTTERFLY BIOSPHERE RESERVE

Each fall, millions of monarch butterflies coming from North America paint the trees in the forest with their beautiful orange color; the weight of so many butterflies may sometimes even bend their branches. In the spring, they begin an eight-month migration towards the eastern part of Canada. During a 4 consecutive generation period, they are born and they die. The way they manage to find their way to the hibernation place is still ignored. It was declared in 2008 as World Natural Heritage by UNESCO. Located west of the State of Mexico: from Toluca via the Toluca-Donato Guerra highway.

 

 

TEOTIHUACAN

“Where men become gods”

The mythical prehispanic city of Teotihuacan, acknowledged by UNESCO as World Historical Heritage, is one of the most visited archaeological sites in the world and icon to the deep Mexican roots.

 

Touristic Attractions

Teotihuacan Archaeological Site; “Reino Animal” Recreational Park. Prehispanic gastronomy and obsidian and other precious Stone handcrafts.

 

TEPOTZOTLÁN

An enclave in the Jorobado Hill, it possesses one of the most important places of vice royal art: The National Viceroyalty Museum. It is a tranquil place which still keeps a provincial touch. Its magical temple, dedicated to Saint Francis Xavier, constitutes the heart of Tepotzotlan, here is where the magic that extends to its alleys begins.

It is located approximately 47 km from Mexico City via the Mexico-Queretaro highway.

 

 

 

 

THE INLAND ROYAL ROAD

         Considered the eldest in our continent, with an approximate extension of 2,900 kilometers, it was traced by the Spanish, probably over pathways already used by the natives. In august 2010 the Inland Royal Road was declared World Heritage by UNESCO, inscribing 60 sites along eleven states in Mexico from Mexico City to Chihuahua. Even though its origin and use are linked to the mining industry, it also favored the establishment of social, cultural and religious bonds between Hispanic culture and native cultures, 4 are located in the State of Mexico. It is located 47 km from Mexico City.
